As a result of my multi-year healing adventures, I have developed skills to offer a Holistic Healing practice that helps people, without prescriptions or surgery, to feel great. I continue to study, by topics, or by techniques, to learn the fastest way to alleviate pain and unhappy emotions, whatever a person’s starting point.  My idea of fun is taking a spiritual retreat or special neurobiology training.  I recently took a retreat experience with Peter Pearson, on the subject of Thomas Merton and what our spiritual paths may be.  I also just completed a 19-week class on the Vagus Nerve and how to access its powers for quick shifts.  Soon, I will be taking a Jin Shin Jyutsu refresher class with a medical doctor.  Fun, fun, fun!

So, yesterday, I talked some about my pain journey and mentioned some of the approaches I developed to beat an intense idiopathic pain situation I had for 8 years.  This year I continued to apply all I have learned about keeping myself strong and healthy, as I went through a full year (starting July 2021) of chemotherapy. Yes, the full year just ended this week!  I never lost my hair or had elimination issues, and I shocked the doctors with my positivity.  One doctor quipped, “I just brighten up when I see your name on my appointment list for the day!”   You can be this patient, too.

Because my holistic healing range is extensive, I have created a partial list of the areas I use to help people feel great.  Here are some categories we cover in sessions, on Zoom or in the office (Central Phoenix):

Holistic coaching

  • Strategies for stopping collecting stress
  • Strategies for dissolving or trading in stress
  • Options for discomforts, possible origins
  • Steps for dealing with difficult people or situations, including phrases to use
  • Effective living strategies
  • Ways to access and maintain personal peace
  • Recommendations of nutritional shifts and supplements
  • Intuitive readings
  • Personalized re-scripting (formerly “affirmations”)

Energy medicine

  • Pendulum chakra reading and balancing/clearing
  • Pulse reading for meridian balancing
  • Energy balancing with Jin Shin Jyutsu, Reiki, Healing Touch, and Vagus nerve balancing for the sympathetic and parasympathetic nervous systems
  • Food energy reading
  • Self-help routines for those interested

Coursework (materials also available in individual sessions)

  • Dealing with difficult people energetically
  • Self-help Jin Shin Jyutsu
  • Instant relaxation for busy people
  • How to unwind your stress and live the way you meant to
  • How to meditate (multiple methods)
  • How to use a labyrinth for meditation and prayer
  • How people pray, and how you can
  • Cleansing and rebooting the energy of your space
  • Energetics of food and supplements
  • Basic Feng Shui for your home and car

Goals

  • Trade in your stress for energy
  • Relieve odd symptoms
  • Speed up clearing/healing from impacts of illness, accidents, surgery
  • Dissolve fatigue
  • Get better sleep
  • Feel happier and younger
  • Feel good enough to be grateful and embrace Life

Do any of these phrases resonate for you and your needs? Now I am Healthy Happy and Loving Lifesm!  And in my daily series this month, I hope to strongly convince you that positive living is the way to be, and that it results in greater health and happiness and joy.  It’s more fun!  And that would be me and you, shaping our lives anew, ever more Healthy Happy and Loving Lifesm!

stress, energy, Happy Healthy Loving Life

If you read it very quickly, my bywords might seem vapid:  Healthy!  Happy!  Loving Life!  The fact is that these words are powerful.  They evolved into this current form over decades of trying to better describe what I believe in, how life works, and what I offer, as a professional.

All my life, I wanted to feel good, have energy, and be enjoying life.  I wanted to laugh with friends and experience a lot of joy.  But I had mystery fatigue and mystery pain all over, which was never diagnosed by regular doctors.  And normal pain relievers didn’t touch the pain.  Exercise helped.  I didn’t laugh a lot.  So by the time I had completed 2 university degrees and was working very hard on success in science fields, I began taking a fresh look at my situation through the burgeoning fields of holistic health.  My health was a daily struggle, and I was nowhere near my dream of being happy.  I couldn’t imagine goals beyond getting a grip on my situation.

But I got there!  Step by step, I peeled away layers, found my answers, and restored my health.  I fell in love with energy medicine methods like Reiki, Jin Shin Jyutsu, and Healing Touch. I fell in love with the healing power of foods.  My faith journey helped.  I was ordained as a minister.  What I concluded in my journey was that:

  1. Feeling great has to start with health.  We must each find our personal health balance.
  2. Health clears clouds and allows us to find happiness
  3. Health and happiness allow us to embrace Life, step into The Flow, and begin to live joyfully and powerfully.
  4. This becomes a system I call Healthy Happy Loving Life!

I have spent many years explaining what I do through the lens of Stress Management.  Most people who appear stressed are dealing with health or pain issues, conflicts that prevent happiness, and no sense of connection to Source– to any Divine– at all.  Many people have no sense of their own belief system.  Now I help them sort out their beliefs and practices with holistic coaching.

I tried for years to get people to live on the Upbeat– to live emphasizing the positive– with titles about Upbeat Living and Upbeat Spiritual Living.  I wrote hundreds of free articles (now over 500 online), several guidebooks, and 3 books to help people.  Now I help them shift their attitudes to the positive and their languaging to the positive.  I listen to their descriptions of stressful situations and relationships, help them sort out the dynamics, and offer specific strategies and wording for difficult conversations.

Many people have no idea that their peripheral neuropathy or other condition may be caused by, for example, the diet sodas they are drinking.  Now I help them shift away from foods that may be hurting a condition they mention, and shift toward delicious foods that may dissolve that condition.  I also offer Energy Transformation Sessions, to dissolve headaches, back pain, anger, grief, or other conditions that are uncomfortable and distracting.  People leave my office relaxed, happy, and hopeful.

I have helped countless people over the years, to release the uncomfortable and move into a life they love.  Today, I teach or coach online,  and I have Energy Transformation Sessions and Holistic Coaching in my cozy office.  People get notes to take home, to try techniques, look over books, or switch what they swallow.  Might you get huge shifts from this work?  Yes!  Might people respond to you very differently?  Yes!  Might you start enjoying the right people, more?  Yes!  And you will increasingly find yourself being more Healthy Happy and Loving Lifesm!  You have only your discomforts to lose, and I would love to help you on your journey.

Is there something in your body or your life that you wish were healed?  The spectrum of positive outcomes is limitless.  Understandings and many other tools can lead us to comfort, peace, release, and relief.

I like to focus on the positive, the Upbeat Livingsm, the joy– all the Highest and Best.  Not the past or the pain.  However, recently, I was in a healing ministry group gathering, and some were sharing stories of healings they had seen and experienced.  We discussed dimensions of healing: what actually makes it happen?  That day, I was moved to share with this loving group my most dramatic healing story: mine. Here it is.

When I was 26, one evening, I began to feel cranky.  I thought “[H]ow odd!  What’s going on?”  My body replied that the large joints of my hands were burning.  I thought, “[N]o problem.  Mom has had mild arthritis since my age.  I’ll take aspirin, like she does.”  Oh no!  Within a year, I was burning from head to toe.  And there was a terrible stiffness with the pain.  Over a few months, my joints began to enlarge and I could hardly use my hands.  I knew I would be needing a wheelchair by my mid-thirties, and there would be no marriage or children.  As an engineering manager, I went at potential solutions like the engineer of a high-speed train.  I learned the latest on nutrition, controlled my diet, and took up oriental energy healing, primarily Jin Shin Jyutsu.  I learned there are many approaches other than medication, to beat a painful condition.

When I was 33, I was at a party, and an acquaintance was talking about her arthritis as though she had married it.  She was obsessed with it, in love with it.  But that’s another column.  I heard myself say to her, “[W]ell, when I had horrible crippling arthritis, I found several things really helped…”  From there, I have no memory of what I shared with her, because I was so shocked to hear myself speak of my hellish, life-killing condition in the past tense.  It had finished leaving sometime over the previous few months!  I learned that just because you have a condition doesn’t mean it has to be progressive.  Just because you have a diagnosis doesn’t mean you have to keep it.  Later, as my joints actually healed and shrank, I learned that just because you have organic body damage, it doesn’t mean it can’t reverse.  These were huge revelations to me.  Now, at 63, most days, I have no pain of any kind whatsoever.  People take me for 20 years younger.

The opportunity to experience that crippling condition was a transformative gift in my life.  I became so fascinated with natural pain solutions and healing possibilities that I left engineering and morphed into an energy- and spiritual healer.  I became an ordained minister, a spiritual teacher and an award-winning author.  The more I helped people heal, the more I saw the underlying role of stress in almost all conditions. I began teaching people to dissolve their stress and actually trade in stress for energy and wellness.  Now, I frequently teach stress management, energizing techniques, and meditation.

Roman statesman Lucius Seneca said,

The wish for healing has always been half of health.

Do you want healing?  Then meditate on these top 7 Laws of Healing:

  1. There are many approaches other than medication, to beat horrible pain and other health conditions.
  2. Stress is a major factor to conquer, for most to get the healing they seek.
  3. Just because you have a diagnosis doesn’t mean you have to keep it.
  4. Just because you have a diagnosis doesn’t mean it gets to rule your life.
  5. Just because you have a condition doesn’t mean it has to be progressive.
  6. Just because there was never a medical protocol before doesn’t mean there won’t be one soon, if you like medical protocols.
  7. Just because you’re not cured doesn’t mean you can’t be healed.

After decades of my healer path, I now believe literally all things are possible.  I experience the unreasonable and the miraculous every day.  May I assist you in your healing journey?  Your commitment to your own healing means you are stepping into Upbeat Living.

Fifty years ago, it was believed there was little you could do for colds.  You could try aspirin or decongestants for fever and stuffiness.  Some claimed chicken soup was beneficial, but no one had a scientific reason.  Mainly, people with colds had to rest, suffer, and wait for the symptoms to go away.  By the 1970’s,  Tylenol was being widely used, and the benefits of chicken soup had been proven and published.  Today, much more is known about helping the body with colds.  Try these 4 steps to reduce your symptoms and strengthen your system out of illness.

Step One, if you have severe muscle aches, you probably have influenza, “the flu”, and not a cold.  Call your doctor.  There are some new antiviral prescriptions that may help you.  If you are sure you have the flu, and you prefer a homeopathic remedy, you may want to try Oscillococcinum from your health food store.  Dissolved under the tongue, this is very effective for many.  Also, if you have special medical conditions and should call your doctor in case of cold symptoms, do that immediately.  Every doctor’s office has 24-hour paging or emergency numbers.

Step Two, make yourself comfortable and get extra rest.  Do you normally get enough rest?  Drink lots of water and nutritional fluids.  Alcohol is generally not helpful for a cold.  Take a hot bath, at the “ahhhhh” temperature for you, which may be about 103 degrees F.  Add 2 cups, or a one-pound box, of Epsom salts and set a timer so you stay in for at least 20 minutes.  If you are concerned about your tub’s jets being hurt by the Epsom salts, dissolve them before adding to the tub, or buy your Epsom salts in liquid form.  Most drug stores and grocery stores have both forms.  If your throat hurts, mix salt and baking soda in equal proportions in a small storage jar; use a teaspoon of mix in a glass of pleasantly hot water, and gargle thoroughly.  Making deep tones while you gargle will give you better coverage at the back of the throat.

Step Three, bolster yourself with nutritional helps.  These will help strengthen your immune system so it can fight and dispose of the cold virus quickly.  These are generally inexpensive and will help you feel better fast! Drink black, or preferably green, tea, with minimally processed honey in it; the tea contains heart-healthy compounds and the honey contains many helpful enzymes and other energizing nutritional components.  In Chinese medicine, a cold is a “yin” condition, so adding “yang” foods to your body will make you feel much better.  Drink your tea or soup warm.  Stir a little ginger powder into that tea or chicken soup. You probably have ginger powder in your spice rack.  Or use ginger extract drops from your health food store.  Try Vitamin C with bioflavonoids.  One highly absorbable form is the widely available “Emergen-C”, available in most grocery stores and drugstores in many flavors; the small packets contain ascorbate compounds of Vitamin C, B complex, and minerals.  A similar preparation is “Airborne”.  Soluble B-12 with folic acid and B-6 is also widely available now. Eat fresh fruit, not frozen or canned if possible, due to the loss of nutrition in processing; the colors represent the natural bioflavonoids.  Additional herbal drops are widely available for strengthening the immune functions.  Separately or in combined drops, these may include:  astragalus, Echinacea, Shitake Mushroom, Fresh Red Root, Licorice Root, and Suma Root.  A popular combination product is  Zand echinacea drops with goldenseal.

Step Four, get yourself some energy therapy–Jin Shin Jyutsu(R), Healing Touch(R), or Reiki(R).  You’ll feel stronger right away.  Then you’ll finish this cold and come out on a higher vitality level than you went into it with.  And let me know what worked best for you!
