I was excited to get all the responses to my favorite-mug sharing a few days ago! I want you to have the healthiest, happiest life that you absolutely love! And mugs can be a supporting player in that life. Mugs comfort and reassure. They transport liquids that wake us up, that revive us, and that warm us up. Sometimes a mug even gets commandeered to hold soup, chili, or cereal. Even pencils!
Some mugs remind us of a place we’ve been, like the Starbucks in Cabo San Lucas. Or the street fair where we found the array of lovingly hand-crafted ceramicware. Some mugs are simply beautiful, and they create points of color in our office or living room. There are mugs that represent a company or candidate, or even a city. I once received a mug that said, “Genuine Souvenir of Israel”; on the bottom, it said “Made in Hong Kong”. Plus, it was the ugliest mug I have ever seen.
One of the greatest delights of a mug is that it may remind us of something important– a value, a goal, a mood we aspire to. These are the message mugs. Today, I’m sharing 5 of my favorite message mugs, collected over the years.
- The first I actually found in a Walgreens. In 5 words, it reminds us that we all have limits, and our job is to do our best, that’s all: DON’T STRESS- DO YOUR BEST. Great advice for anyone.
2. For this red mug, the message is in the shape. It’s a heart! This was unusual when I found it about 10 years ago. When I sip from this mug, I remember all the people who love me, and I remember God’s love. (To find a heart-shaped mug today, just ask your search bar– there are hundreds now.)
3. This is the mug that reminds you your burdens are not yours alone. God is taking care of things on a much more profound level than we can imagine. We are only responsible to do our part. The reverse side of this mug reminds us of Ps. 55:22, “Cast all your cares on the Lord and he will sustain you.” (These are available online in several styles.)
4. The message of this one is clear. It also reminds me of all the love that surrounds us all the time. It’s from an Ellen Degeneres design line and probably still available.
5. This last one is from Taliesin, the Frank Lloyd Wright school of architecture. “Love is the virtue of the heart…Decision the virtue of the will.” I like to drink from this one when I want to feel strong and motivated.
So there you have some of my favorite message mugs. Do you have some that are meaningful or motivating for you? There are so many opportunities to feel bad in this world. Use the tools you have to comfort, uplift, and motivate yourself to create the life you want!
The more we are in step with the positive and the supportive, the inspirational and the motivational, the more we find we’re Healthy, Happy, and Loving Lifesm! The choices are up to you!

I so love that heart mug! Haven’t seen anything like it. Currently, my everyday mug for coffee is a stainless steel mug (boring I know) because I love to take my time drinking my cuppa and this mug keeps it hot! You make a good point though – I can always use my Cricut to add a special message to my mug . . . . something to add to my to-do list this week!

Angie, just look in your google search bar and type in “heart shaped mugs”– you’ll see mine and dozens of others–so inspiring! I found a stainless steel mug in my husband’s old camping gear– so beautiful! I must try it and see if it holds heat like yours. Yes, use that Cricut! And thanks for taking the time to comment!

Collecting mugs is a hobby of mine. Whenever I travel, I bring back a souvenir mug. In addition, whenever I spot a unique mug, I buy it. I have one that’s crooked and all bent out of shape. Its message is, “I love you with all of your imperfections.”

Florence, I love the idea of your crooked mug! Heartwarming and powerful! Now do you keep all those souvenir mugs forever?

You have accumulated a lot of mugs. I was just in a conversation the other day about these dishes I got from a place called The Pottery in Williamsburg, VA. I had quite a collection myself. They came to mean a lot to me because I had picked them out myself, as an adult, rather than being hand me downs. It’s more things like that that stand out to me, than messages. It’s being carefully chosen.

Jeanine, now I want to go into The Pottery! Ah, those mugs/dishes would be the ones I described in my first piece about mugs, several days ago. Do you still have those dishes?

Martha, I love that you found my mug posts inspiring! Maybe you can find a heart-shaped mug too? Oh I am so with you that Jesus is the reason for the season! How great that you have a mug saying that. Looking forward to seeing your mugs. 💗🕊🙏🏻

I too have a fun mug collection, and I really enjoy taking their pictures and drinking tea or hot chocolate out of them. This month, I especially enjoyed celebrating that magnificent invention, the hot chocolate bomb, in a big mug decorated with lots of hearts!

I have a lot of mugs including one that says I love you a Bushel and a Peck and a Hug Around the Neck in memory of my grandmother. But my favorite is my Eeyore mug my daughter bought me as she has passed away and I miss her so much. This is my Hot Chocolate Mug or I get her Tigger Mug and watch her favorite movie when I miss her.

Glenda, thank you! You are the first person ever to tell me that you enjoy certain mugs in memory of loved ones. I adore the idea of drinking from their mug while watching their favorite movie! I’m now adding that to my grief coping skills. I know there is nothing anyone can say that can help with your grief, but I am so sorry for your loss.
